An unequivocal backing, or the dreaded vote of confidence?
Ahead of a Fan’s Forum on Thursday night, Rochdale’s board of directors have stuck their heads above the parapet to seemingly throw their weight behind under-fire new manager Ian Watson.
Following a concerning start to the new League Two season that has seen them lose four of their first five games, Watson has come in for increasing criticism from the fanbase and that translated onto the terraces during Saturday’s game against Gillingham, with vocal calls for his removal during Dale’s 4-1 defeat.
It meant that things had the potential to get a little ugly when Watson and others faced a room full of supporters, so has the board’s statement in advance of that potentially taken some heat out of the room?
